Dog Rabies and
Microchip
Rabies is a viral disease affecting the central nervous system.
All warm-blooded animals are susceptible to rabies, which is transmitted
through the saliva of an infected animal, usually through a bite. In North
America, most rabies exists in wildlife, especially raccoons, skunks,
foxes, and bats etc. If an unvaccinated dog or cat is involved in fight
with a wild animal, it should be a suspect for rabies. If rabies is
diagnosed, the animal may have to be humanely destroyed.
Each year thousands of pets go astray. Animal welfare agencies
and Government Kennels face the tremendous challenge of re-uniting these
pets with their owners. Ensure that your pets have a permanent and positive
means of identification by investing in a Microchip.
