Worming your Pet

Cats need to be wormed regularly to remove parasitic worms which live in the intestine. Kittens should be treated for roundworm and hookworm every two weeks until 12 weeks of age, using drops, paste or tablets. After this, all cats should be treated for roundworm, hookworm and tapeworm once every three months.

Drontal® from Bayer® is a very good dewormer.  This should be taken every 3 ¡V 4 months for adult cats.

Puppies can be infected with worms from their mother prior to birth so it is important to worm them with a preparation to kill Hookworms and Roundworms early in their lives. Ideally they should be treated at 2-4 weeks of age and then each 2 weeks until 12 weeks of age and then every three months for all types of worms.

Remember that there is a change of season every three months, this is an ideal way to remind yourself that is time to worm your pets. It is especially important to worm your dog regularly if you have young children who may pat the dog and then put their fingers in their mouths.

Always use recommended worm tablets and make sure you use the correct dose for the weight of your dog.

We recommend Drontal® every 3 to 4 months for dogs.
